Leadership Experience
Instructional Leadership Roles
ELA Lead Teacher - 6 years
During my time as lead teacher, I have been able to be a part of two different grade level teams. Each team was different and needed different things from me as their leader. Through this leadership experience, I have learned the importance of listening to others and their needs, how to manage different personalities among team members, find and highlight strengths in others, keep conversations focused on student's best interest and needs.
ELA Curriculum Writer - 8 years
I have been able to write curriculum for the past 6 years. I have seen and been a part of the progression the district has gone through over the years and have come to know the old and new ELA TEKS well. Vertical alignment, instructional fidelity, and assessment have been major focuses for me.
ELA Assessment Writer - 3 years
Along with curriculum writing, I have had the opportunity to write assessments for the past 3 years. Again, knowing the TEKS has been important knowledge as we work to write assessments that appropriately answer the question of "How will we know that they know it?" Studying assessment data allows us to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
ESL Teacher - 10 years
Since I began my teaching career in Coppell ISD, I have had the privilege of teaching ESL students. The specialized instruction that ESL students need are similar to what all students need. I believe that all kids can benefit from the instructional strategies that are known as best practices for ESL students. I have been a part of LPAC meetings and completed LPAC paperwork as well as participated in TELPAS training, testing, and rating.
Summer School ESL Teacher - 2 years
For two summers, I taught a combined ESL summer school class for incoming kindergarten and first grade ESL students. The early intervention experiences that we were able to provide these students were incredibly beneficial, academically and socially, as they prepared to move into the next grade level.
